NEW YORK, Oct. 29, 2020 -- Wix (Nasdaq: WIX), the global leader in website creation, announces the expansion of their intensive web design program, Wix Playground Academy, into Europe in January 2021. The Academy bridges the gap between design school and the professional world, and helps designers elevate their multidisciplinary design experience.
Since its inception in summer 2018, the Playground Academy has operated out of Wix's physical location in the Meatpacking District in New York City. However, as a result of COVID-19, Wix successfully transitioned the program into a digital format earlier this year. Although the transition came with obvious challenges, pivoting to online gave the Wix team a fresh and unique perspective.
"Launching the program virtually isn't something we would have instinctively thought to do, as teaching design is a handson experience," said Hagit Kaufman, Wix's VP of Brand and Design. "However, with in-person classes off the table, we were forced to find creative solutions to digital learning. The summer 2020 program showed us that it was not only possible to run a design program completely remote, but also that there were advantages in doing so. Our Academy graduates have gone on to work at top design firms and for leading brands around the world. COVID-19 has made the job market unpredictable, so being able to expand the Academy to Europe means being able to help more aspiring designers and prepare them for a career in the industry."
Taught by industry-leaders in design, the Academy offers up to 40 of the best design students each cohort the rare opportunity to expand on their design skills through workshops and hands-on projects—at no cost to those selected. Through creative mentorship, Wix creates a holistic environment that allows their students to gain experience and freedom in a creative way, while also giving them practical and professional level work.
Students develop their online portfolios, enhance their web design skills, and learn how to showcase and promote their work. They take courses in everything from Responsive Design, to Coding and UX Design, to Animation, to Content Writing. Wix also plans to digitize the field trip and get-together experiences, so that in addition to kick-starting their careers, students leave with a support system at the program's conclusion.
"I applied for Wix's Playground Academy because I wanted to meet new people and be inspired," said Rajlaxmi Jain, one of the Academy's recent graduates. "To be able to stay connected as a community through creativity during this pandemic has been invaluable."
The New York program spans three months over the summer, but the European program will be condensed to four weeks to make it more accessible. Kicking off on January 4th and running through January 29th, with students meeting via Zoom five times a week between 5:00PM-9:00PM (CET). Instructors for the winter 2021 session have yet to be announced, but past lecturers have included award-winning designers like Jessica Walsh, Debbie Millman, Alexandra Zsigmond, Adam Kurtz, Nicole Ginelli, and Hagit Kaufman.
Any designer or design student over the age of 18 is eligible to apply by submitting their portfolio for review. Applications for Wix Playground Academy Europe opened on October 18th and will stay open through mid-December, with students accepted on a rolling basis. Applications for Wix's summer 2021 Academy in New York (EST) are now open as well.

]]>NEW YORK, Sept. 30, 2020 -- Wix (NASDAQ: WIX), the global leader in website creation, announces the launch of their own custom digital-first typeface, Wix Madefor. Designed in collaboration with its in-house studio and type foundry Dalton Maag, Madefor will replace the legacy typeface to bring Wix's online-focused design-centric identity to the forefront of the company's products and services.
"At Wix, we take a lot of pride in our in-house multidisciplinary design studio, and we noticed the brand was missing a critical element of design, a custom and easily-recognizable typeface," said Hagit Kaufman, Wix VP of Design and Brand. "We set out to create a bespoke typeface that was distinguishable and represented our brand values. Most importantly, the typeface needed to work well online, maintain its character when scaled across large displays, and support legibility across user interfaces and long-form text. And of course, it needed to be beautiful! We believe we've created exactly that with MadeFor."
Wix and Dalton Maag came up with five initial design concepts, each exploring a slightly different direction. This process allowed Wix to clarify the typographic proportions and identify the features that best conveyed Wix's tone, voice, and core values. The typeface was refined and modified to ensure adaptability in a variety of display environments. The character set supports many languages, allowing Wix to speak to its global customer base in one, unified voice.
Type buffs will note that the MadeFor typeface family is geometric and minimal, but features characteristics that give it a distinct personality. For example, 'pipe-bend' terminals seen in the 'j' and flaring angled terminals seen in the 's' allow for readers to easily skim a page. The wide proportions of the display style grab attention and allow the features of the typeface to be truly appreciated. The text styles are narrower and looser to work efficiently at small sizes within paragraph text and across Wix's user interface. The italic styles complete the range of expression and were designed for content that needs emphasis or simply wants to feel more playful or personal.
"The collaborative nature of the project allowed us to hone in on exactly what the Wix Design Team needed and resulted in a compact typographic toolkit with a subtle, but unique personality," said Matt Burvill, Font Developer at Dalton Maag. "The project benefited from the dynamics between Dalton Maag and Wix. The mix of departments, backgrounds, cultures, and genders allowed for balanced feedback and resulted in a typeface that truly feels like it was made for all."
The MadeFor final typeface includes three display weights and three text weights, with each style available in regular, bold, and extra bold. Each of the text weights also comes with a matching italic style. The typeface balances modernity and tradition, giving the brand a fresh tone of voice that will stand the test of time.
We're proud to introduce Madefor: Madefor online, Madefor professionals, Madefor creatives, and Madefor you, the latest evolution in the Wix brand family, and we hope one day, a design classic type.

]]>The Notes will not bear regular interest, and the principal amount of the Notes will not accrete. The Notes will mature on August 15, 2025, unless earlier repurchased, redeemed or converted in accordance with their terms prior to such date. The Notes will be convertible based on an initial conversion rate of 2.4813 ordinary shares of Wix per $1,000 principal amount of Notes (equivalent to an initial conversion price of approximately $403.01 per share, which represents a conversion premium of approximately 45.0% to the last reported sale price of Wix's ordinary shares on The Nasdaq Global Select Market on August 10, 2020). Prior to the close of business on the business day immediately preceding February 15, 2025, the Notes will be convertible at the option of the holders of the Notes only upon the satisfaction of specified conditions and during certain periods. On or after February 15, 2025 until the close of business on the second scheduled trading day preceding the maturity date, the Notes will be convertible at the option of the holders of Notes at any time regardless of these conditions. Conversions of the Notes will be settled in cash, ordinary shares of Wix or a combination thereof, at Wix's election.
Wix may not redeem the Notes prior to August 21, 2023, except in the event of certain tax law changes. On or after August 21, 2023, Wix may redeem, for cash, all or part of the Notes if the last reported sale price of its ordinary shares has been at least 130% of the conversion price then in effect for at least 20 trading days (whether or not consecutive) during any 30 consecutive trading day period (including the last trading day of such period) ending on, and including, the trading day immediately preceding the date on which Wix provides notice of the redemption at a redemption price equal to 100% of the principal amount of the Notes to be redeemed, plus accrued and unpaid interest to, but excluding, the redemption date.
Holders of the Notes will have the right to require Wix to repurchase all or a portion of their Notes upon the occurrence of a fundamental change (as defined in the indenture governing the Notes) at a cash repurchase price equal to 100% of the principal amount of the Notes to be repurchased, plus any accrued and unpaid interest to, but excluding, the fundamental change repurchase date. In connection with certain corporate events or following Wix's delivery of a notice of redemption, Wix will, under certain circumstances, increase the conversion rate for a holder who elects to convert its Notes in connection with such corporate event or to convert its Notes called for redemption in connection with such notice of redemption, as the case may be. When issued, the Notes will be Wix's senior unsecured obligations and will rank senior in right of payment to any of Wix's unsecured indebtedness that is expressly subordinated in right of payment to the Notes; equal in right of payment to any of Wix's unsecured indebtedness that is not so subordinated (including Wix's 0% Convertible Senior Notes due 2023); effectively junior in right of payment to any of Wix's secured indebtedness to the extent of the value of the assets securing such indebtedness; and structurally junior to all indebtedness and other liabilities (including trade payables) of Wix's subsidiaries.
In connection with the pricing of the Notes, Wix has entered into privately negotiated capped call transactions with certain of the initial purchasers of the Offering or their respective affiliates and other financial institutions (in this capacity, the "Option Counterparties"). The capped call transactions are expected generally to reduce the potential dilution to the ordinary shares of Wix upon any conversion of Notes and/or to offset any cash payments Wix is required to make in excess of the principal amount of converted Notes, as the case may be, with such reduction and/or offset subject to a cap. The cap price of the capped call transactions will initially be $555.88 per share, which represents a premium of 100% over the last reported sale price of the ordinary shares of Wix of $277.94 per share on August 10, 2020, and is subject to certain adjustments under the terms of the capped call transactions. If the initial purchasers of the Offering exercise their option to purchase additional Notes, Wix expects to enter into additional capped call transactions with the Option Counterparties.
Wix has been advised that, in connection with establishing their initial hedges of the capped call transactions, the Option Counterparties or their respective affiliates expect to purchase ordinary shares of Wix and/or enter into various derivative transactions with respect to the ordinary shares of Wix concurrently with or shortly after the pricing of the Notes. This activity could increase (or reduce the size of any decrease in) the market price of the ordinary shares of Wix, the Notes and Wix's 0% Convertible Senior Notes due 2023 at that time. In addition, the Option Counterparties or their respective affiliates may modify their hedge positions by entering into or unwinding various derivatives with respect to the ordinary shares of Wix and/or by purchasing or selling ordinary shares or other securities of Wix in secondary market transactions from time to time prior to the maturity of the Notes (and are likely to do so following any conversion, repurchase, or redemption of the Notes, to the extent Wix exercises the relevant election under the capped call transactions). This activity could also cause or avoid an increase or a decrease in the market price of the ordinary shares of Wix or the Notes, which could affect the ability of holders of Notes to convert the Notes and, to the extent the activity occurs during any observation period related to a conversion of the Notes, it could affect the number of ordinary shares of Wix, if any, and value of the consideration that holders of Notes will receive upon conversion of the Notes.
In addition, if any such capped call transactions fail to become effective, whether or not the Offering is completed, the Option Counterparties party thereto or their respective affiliates may unwind their hedge positions with respect to the ordinary shares of Wix, which could adversely affect the value of the ordinary shares of Wix and, if the Notes have been issued, the value of the Notes.
Wix estimates that the net proceeds from the Offering will be approximately $486.3 million (or $559.4 million if the initial purchasers exercise their over-allotment option in full), after deducting fees and estimated offering expenses payable by Wix. Wix intends to use $40 million of the net proceeds from the Offering to pay the cost of the capped call transactions. Wix may also use a portion of the net proceeds to acquire complementary businesses, products, services or technologies. However, Wix has not entered into any agreements for or otherwise committed to any specific acquisitions at this time. Wix intends to use any remaining net proceeds from the Offering for general corporate purposes. If the initial purchasers exercise their over-allotment option, Wix expects to use a portion of the net proceeds from the sale of the additional Notes to enter into additional capped call transactions with the Option Counterparties and the remaining net proceeds for general corporate purposes.
The Notes were offered only to persons reasonably believed to be qualified institutional buyers pursuant to Rule 144A under the Securities Act. The offer and sale of the Notes and the ordinary shares of Wix potentially issuable upon conversion of the Notes, if any, have not been, and will not be, registered under the Securities Act, any state securities laws or the securities laws of any other jurisdiction, and unless so registered, the Notes and such shares, if any, may not be offered or sold in the United States except pursuant to an applicable exemption from such registration requirements.
This press release does not constitute an offer to sell or a solicitation of an offer to buy, nor shall there be any offer or sale of, the Notes (or any ordinary shares of Wix issuable upon conversion of the Notes) in any state or jurisdiction in which the offer, solicitation, or sale would be unlawful prior to the registration or qualification thereof under the securities laws of any such state or jurisdiction.
]]>The final terms of the Notes, including the initial conversion price, interest rate and certain other terms, will be determined at the time of pricing of the Offering. When issued, the Notes will be senior, unsecured obligations of Wix. Interest on the Notes will be payable semi-annually in arrears, and the Notes will mature on August 15, 2025, unless earlier repurchased, redeemed or converted in accordance with their terms prior to such date. Prior to February 15, 2025, the Notes will be convertible at the option of the holders of Notes only upon the satisfaction of certain conditions and during certain periods. Thereafter, the Notes will be convertible at any time until the close of business on the second scheduled trading day immediately prior to the maturity date. The Notes will be convertible into cash, ordinary shares of Wix or a combination thereof, with the form of consideration determined at Wix's election.
]]>NEW YORK, July 30, 2020 -- Wix.com, Ltd. (NASDAQ: WIX), the global leader in website creation, announced today the results of a first-of-its-kind project independently initiated by the Philippines Department of Education under Philippine's "Digital Rise Program" that will bring e-learning curriculums to back-to-school programs starting in August.
"With COVID-19 restrictions in place, small businesses, entrepreneurs, and schools across the world experienced unprecedented transitions to operating exclusively online. This disruption was particularly devastating for schools, which had to pivot to full-time remote learning with little time to prepare," said Dror Shaked, Senior Vice President at Wix. "In May 2020, amid the pandemic, tens of thousands of teachers and schools came together with a joint mission -- to bring the Philippines education system online -- and in only two days, 43,000 e-learning sites were created for schools to make available digital curricula online," said Shaked.
As part of the growing movement to digitize schools, the Digital Rise Program will facilitate the transition to e-learning for the local schools and provide them with step-by-step support. This coordination will exclusively be handled by teachers and schools. Students will be able to access all of the e-learning content without having to log in and will only be able to consult the e-learning content available on the Wix websites.
To make this vision possible, all volunteers have been trained on their own platform by the education department and have created 43,000 sites for schools in the Philippines. These volunteers have set a standard for success, not only for the Philippines Department of
Education, but also for other developing countries who are looking to improve their e-learning education curricula in the years to come.
"We are excited about this first-of-its kind digital education initiative for the Philippines Education Department because it sparks empowerment for all learners," said Abram Abanil, ICTS Director. "A regular teacher has been able to create their site on Wix with zero coding experience in order to make their digital curriculum accessible. This is the future of education, and we are thrilled to provide access to educational content through Wix's generous resources," said Abanil.

New York, July 26, 2019 - Wix is a proud partner of gaming superstars FaZe Clan and this weekend FaZe Clan players will be competing at the Fortnite World Cup live in New York at the Arthur Ashe Stadium, from July 26-28.
Players have been competing for weeks to qualify for a chance to take a shot at the $30 million prize pool. The event will be streamed online via YouTube, Twitch, across social channels and even within the Fortnite game itself.
However, this is bad news for the Fortnite Loot Llamas.
Each day, millions of innocent Loot Llamas are destroyed by Fortnite players across the web - and they will be a hot target during the Fortnite World Cup.
Wix stands behind the FaZe Clan team in their quest for victory in the Fortnite World Cup. But in order to do that, they may have to destroy some innocent Loot Llamas along the way.
Wix also cares deeply about llamas, so for every Loot Llama destroyed by a FaZe Clan Member during the official matches of the Fortnite World Cup Wix will donate $1,000 per Loot Llama, up to $50,000, to Southeast Llama Rescue (SELR) a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization incorporated in North Carolina, dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and overall improvement of the lives of llamas.
“It’s a tragic fact, but each year hundreds of Loot Llamas are brutally eliminated in the ongoing battles for greatness. But the truth is, we love llamas both in the gaming world and in real life. Everyone at Wix is cheering for our FaZe Clan partners and players as they pursue the World Cup championship, and at the same time we want to help to save llamas and redeem any virtual misdeeds,” says Eran Gefen, Chief Llama Lover and VP Creative at Wix.
In order to track the progress of their efforts, a dedicated Wix website will display a live count of the Loot Llamas destroyed during the games, as well as the amount of money being donated to Southeast Llama Rescue.
